Middle School Music Teacher
Sheridan is seeking a middle school music teacher for grades 5-8. The successful candidate will have a thorough background in vocal and instrumental music, experience using a variety of assessment techniques, strong instructional and classroom-management skills, and experience collaborating closely with colleagues and parents. Sheridan’s music program is based on the Orff Schulwerk process of learning music through hands-on participation in creating and performing both vocal and instrumental music. The middle school program also focuses on developing music literacy skills while introducing students to a variety of different instruments and genres of music. Additional responsibilities include regular communication with parents, participation in department and faculty meetings, and lunch and recess duties several times a week. The middle school music teacher typically collaborates in the management of the weekly music elective period and directs the annual musical, both for additional stipends.
Substitute Teachers
Open houses are held periodically for prospective substitute teachers. An undergraduate degree, experience working with elementary or middle school-aged children, and an interest in Sheridan’s program are required. If you would like to be notified of the next open house, please send a resume to the Faculty Recruitment Coordinator at recruitment@sheridanschool.org.
