Financial Aid
Applying for Financial Aid
Sheridan School strives to reflect the true diversity of the larger world in which we live, maintaining a diverse student body that represents various cultural, social and economic backgrounds. We also believe that any student who is offered admission should have the opportunity to be part of our community and take advantage of all that Sheridan has to offer, regardless of family finances. The purpose of the financial aid program at Sheridan is to help make that opportunity a reality. In 2011-2012, 20% of our students will receive a financial aid grant. The grants range from $5,000 to almost full tuition.
Financial Aid is awarded by Sheridan School based primarily on three factors:
- demonstrated need as determined by guidelines provided by the School and Student Services for Financial Aid (SSS),
- consideration of specific family situations or emergencies, and
- the availability of funds approved annually by the Sheridan Board of Trustees.
We understand that a family’s economic demands may change over time, so we encourage both new and current families who may require long or short term assistance to apply. Although we strive to provide as much assistance as possible, Sheridan’s financial aid budget may prevent awarding grants to everyone who applies, or limit the amount of a grant to any given family. Sheridan School believes that, to the extent they are able, parents, guardians and/or partners have the obligation to pay the educational expenses of their children. This financial investment strengthens the commitment to the home school partnership so critical to a student’s success in school. The purpose of the financial aid program is to fill the gap between the actual cost of a year’s tuition and what a family can realistically be expected to pay.
