Community Service

Students participate in a variety of service-related activities during the school year. The Student Council organizes school-wide service projects to support local community organizations. Sheridan currently partners with Community Council for the Homeless to provide support for individuals and families entering transitional housing. During school-wide service assemblies, students have worked with their buddies in other grades to make food packets and welcome signs.

As part of other community events, students have decorated t-shirts for donations and organized walks. The Student Council has also lead efforts to strengthen Sheridan’s commitment to the environment including programs to reduce waste and increase composting. In addition to the school-wide projects, individual grades participate in service projects that are often tied to their curriculum. These projects include neighborhood trash collection walks, sandwich making, and book and clothing drives. To emphasize Sheridan’s commitment to the importance of community service, projects are recognized each spring at graduation.
